Before You Update the App
Take note of the message shown inside the app and the source from which the current installation came. An update should not require you to share an OTP, password or payment detail on a web page.
Keep a stable connection, free some storage if Android reports low space and avoid uninstalling first unless the app’s support instructions specifically require it. Uninstalling may remove local app data.

Install an Update over the Existing App
When Android recognises the same package and signing identity, it normally offers an update over the installed app. Follow the message on your device and wait for completion before launching.
If Android presents a new-install screen instead of an update, pause and compare the source and package information. Do not assume that two files with similar names belong to the same app.
Handle Package or Signature Conflicts
